Descripción

The Jubilee, a Catholic religious event that began on 24 December 2024 with the opening of the Holy Door of Saint Peter’s, will last until 6 January 2026. For pilgrims from all over the world it is a unique opportunity to take a spiritual path with religious tours that allow you to visit the papal basilicas and the traditions of the Jubilee. In addition, with the Vatican City Pass you will be able to visit other emblematic places.

The Jubilee is a year of grace and the main rite is the opening of the Holy Door, which is opened only during the Jubilee year.

The Jubilee has roots that go back to the Old Testament and, according to biblical tradition, every 50th year was proclaimed a special time of freedom and reconciliation. It was officially established in 1300 by Pope Boniface VIII as a period of forgiveness and spiritual renewal. Since then it has become a regular event of the Catholic Church. At the heart of the Jubilee is the concept of plenary indulgence, which represents the complete remission of sins for the faithful, inviting them to personal conversion.

Pilgrimage is one of the most common practices during the Jubilee period and faithful from all over the world come to Rome to visit the papal basilicas and cross the Holy Door, symbolic gesture accompanied by prayers, reflection and participation in the sacraments.

Come discover the magic of Rome, its soul and its colors!

Rome, the eternal city, enchants its visitors with its majestic monuments, historical churches and fountains, which draw a unique profile in the world.

The Colosseum, symbol of the city and of archaeological Rome, is the largest Roman amphitheater in the world, which hosted gladiatorial fights, games and circus performances.

The Imperial Forums, the political, religious and social heart of ancient Rome, Piazza Venezia and the Ara Pacis Augustea also offer a glimpse into the past. Don’t miss the Vatican Museums, which offer a unique artistic path that houses countless masterpieces by Raphael, Caravaggio and Da Vinci. Of great interest are the Pantheon, a temple dedicated to classical deities, is one of the oldest and best preserved structures in Rome, Piazza di Spagna, which represents one of the most beautiful corners of baroque architecture, and the Trevi Fountain, A must for all visitors to the traditional coin toss.
