About the destination

In the Middle Ages, built under the name of Mutia, it was a strategic seat for the processing and trade of grains, so much so that the lordship of the Da Varano di Camerino had a castle built there to defend the mills. Blessed Rizzerio, a follower of St. Francis of Assisi, was born in this country. Monuments and places of interest Church of S. Maria di Varano Parish church of San Biagio, rebuilt in the 18th century Castello di Prefoglio - In the hamlet of Massaprofoglio, a medieval fortification of the Varano dukes, currently reduced to ruins. Preserves a drawing by Bernini: portrait of Pope Urban VIII. Hermitage of Beato Rizzerio - The Sanctuary is located in Coda di Muccia, immersed in the woods. Here are kept the bones of Blessed Rizzerio, a disciple of St. Francis of Assisi. The Hermitage is currently an accommodation facility, with a meeting room.
